Is there any way to show categories alphabetically in /ia ?

The categories in IA are displayed in the exact same order they are put in the categories config, so if you'd like it to be sorted alphabetically, that would have to be something you'd do yourself.

I do not use the latest default packs, so this isn't something i'd know, but for me it is located in ItemsAdder/contents/variousconfigs/configs/ia_gui_default_categories.yml

You can request this feature on Github if you need it. But you can just add them in the correct order in your configurations.

You just have to place the categories in order in your configurations, there is no need for a guide about it.
The first categories will be shown first, the last will be shown last.

But what if I have categories.yml on each namespace folder?

You can have multiple of them, you can have as many as you like to my knowledge.

How do you order categories if they are split across multiple namespaces?

No matter how many namespaces you have, it doesn't matter, you put the items in the config like this.

namespace:item

So no matter what the namespace is, the categories file should load the item from what it says in the categories file.

Generally I don't suggest making multiple category files, but how you organize your server is up to you. 👍️

Basically it's mostly that I followed what I thought I understood from the wiki!
It is not so obvious to understand that in reality it is not necessarily a file category by namespace.

How is it going in the yml of the category ?
How do you place multiple namespaces there?

namespace: A,B,C

namespace: A
namespace: B
namespace: C

No matter what I test, the IA VSC editor underlines it in red as it was an error so like before, I don't understand how to format this 😕

I mean, it could be bugged? Sometimes the plugin marks code red that still works.

As you can see, my categories file is is under a entire different namespace than my entries, but still works with my other namespace "secret" . It should also work with any other namespace, unless I'm just spouting out garbage XD.

Ha what I misunderstood is that I thought that for the reading of the items to be done correctly, defining the namespace where they are found was mandatory.
But no in fact it's just the namespace where the categories file is located 😅

I'm going to try like you, I find it so much better in terms of organization. Especially since in the names of my categories I write the custom ID of the 1st item to better organize myself, so being able to sort them would be really great !
