Make armor protection disabled if no durability left

Hi, i am trying to make armor that is repairable and when you have durability protection works and block damage, but can i disable armor protection when no durability is left? And can i make it individually for each armor piece?
I've taken original idea from IC2 mod so i just wanna know is it possible?
Also is it possible for items like weapons and tools to work until durability ends?

Please elaborate? When durability is low a item just breaks, and what is "durability protection"?

ItzASecretBoi i've stated a setting in item's config, when durability reaches zero, tool or armor piece doesnt break, now when i got to know about replace_properties parameter, i wanna ask: is it possible to add possibility to replace properties like: when durability of item / armor reaches zero or below zero, tool / amor piece looses protection or efficiency, and when you restore durability, properties change so you can use armor / tool again?

so you will get smth like armor or tools that you need to charge to use, if they are not charged they won't work, is it possible to suggest?

Of course it is possible to suggest this, but there is certainly nothing like this implemented at the moment.
