Limitations of Discord forums
Here are the main reasons why I decided to move forums from Discord to a dedicated platform.
- cannot be customized deeply
- client is slow and frustrating to use
- threads / posts search is not working good and shows incoherent results
- tedious threads / posts management:
- posts cannot be moved between channels
- posts cannot be organized deeply
- Discord owns all the data and they will disappear in case of server deletion
- not indexed on Google which makes search hard
- requires to be registered in order to read the forum content
- post length and other features behind paywall
- privacy concerns
