Images (Custom Font) Breaking Magic Characters

Hello, So i've been trying to setup some custom font images in order to create a custom UI element, however whenever these images exist in our resource pack it breaks Magic Characters (Obfuscated) whenever the images exist within the resourcepack, i've attached my itemsadder pack below.

Are these Magic Characters some kind of plugin or it's only the obfuscation implemented into Minecraft core?
